Work Burnout
-
Work burnout is a state of emotional, physical, and mental exhaustion caused by prolonged stress and overwork, often accompanied by feelings of cynicism, reduced performance, and detachment.
Therapy interventions for burnout focus on helping individuals regain balance, build resilience, and restore a healthier relationship with work.
Often, many working professionals are unaware that they are burnt out from work, and work burnout can physically start to make you feel sick.
Soft Life Counseling is here to help you decide what's best for you, helping you build confidence to establish boundaries, developing self care routines, and redefining what realistic expectations should be surrounding your work/life balance.
EMDR
-
Sometimes, past experiences can leave us feeling stuck—like we’re reliving old memories, emotions, or beliefs no matter how hard we try to move forward. EMDR therapy is a gentle, effective approach that helps your mind and body release the weight of those experiences so you can feel lighter, calmer, and more present.
In EMDR, we use simple techniques like eye movements, sounds, or taps to help your brain naturally reprocess memories. This allows you to shift the way you hold onto painful experiences—not erasing them, but taking away the emotional intensity so they no longer control how you feel today.
EMDR can be especially helpful if you’re struggling with:Stress or anxiety that feels overwhelming
Traumatic or painful past experiences
Grief and loss
Negative self-talk or self-doubt
Fears or phobias
Throughout the process, you’re always in control and supported. Together, we move at your pace in a safe, compassionate space. The goal is to help you find relief, reclaim your sense of safety, and step into life with more freedom and confidence.
Military & First Responders
-
Counseling military personnel and first responders involves addressing the unique psychological challenges faced by individuals in high-stress, high-risk professions.
These individuals are often exposed to traumatic events, life-threatening situations, and chronic stress, which can lead to issues such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, substance use, and burnout.
A core focus is helping clients process traumatic experiences, regulate emotions, reduce hyper-vigilance, and improve relationships—while maintaining confidentiality and respect for their professional identity.
Counseling supports these individuals in restoring mental health, enhancing coping skills, and sustaining their capacity to serve or transition forward with strength and stability.
Dr. Brandy Preston is a retired Air Force veteran, she has worked with veterans in many capacities such as : victim advocacy, peer support, crisis line assistance, and most recently worked in community health program that specifically worked with active duty military, veterans, and first responders in intensive outpatient programs (IOP), partial hospitalization programs (PHP), and inpatient programs.

In therapy, these transitions are approached as both a source of stress and an opportunity for growth. Often you may find that ironically life transitions may have you feeling stuck and unmotivated, perhaps even resistant to change.
